For small, lightweight structures such as pergolas, you can often fasten directly into an existing concrete slab—provided the slab is in good condition, adequately thick, and not prone to movement. For larger or heavier structures, or those that must resist significant wind or snow loads, you’ll need a proper foundation such as poured concrete piers, helical piles, or a structural floating slab.
A. A helical pile is also known as screw piles or helical piers and are a foundation system used in construction. They have a spiral shaped steel plate welded to the central steel shaft. Some benefits of using helical piles are they can be installed quickly with minimal ground disturbance and they can be installed year round. Learn more here.

You will apply as a homeowner with our provided documentation, and we can guide you through this process. Forest to Frame Timberworks recommends obtaining ALL necessary permits but does not hold anyone accountable for neglecting to obtain a permit.
A. We use Osmo One Coat Only HS Plus. A very high quality oil stain gaurenteed to never crack or peel. As with any stain, maintenance is recommended. Learn more here.
